An Advanced Course on the ASME Y-14.5-2018 Dimensioning and Tolerancing Standard
No matter the industry, If you design physical products it is critical to communicate your design intent for manufacturing as accurately as possible. With this program and digital workshop you’ll experience ideal ways to communicate design intent to your internal manufacturing and external supply chain partners.
Building on the foundations of the Fundamentals of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Program as a pre-requisite, the Advanced GD&T program provides a deeper exploration of symbols and standards designed and used by engineers and manufacturers to describe a product and facilitate communication between entities working together to manufacture the product.
With practice and application of these skills, you’ll be able to optimize ideas and improve products, processes, and services that drive execution forward.
In this program, you will learn advanced applications of the ASME Y14.5 standard.
This is an advanced program that builds on fundamentals of the introductory program providing advanced use cases and methods language of symbols and standards designed and used by engineers and manufacturers to describe a product and facilitate communication between entities working together to manufacture the product.
This session has been updated to include key learnings from out most recent real world client case stories. Sharing successes, key learnings, and being real in the amount of energy and effort required to adopt the standard in today’s organization.
The case stories demonstrate how application of the methods and approaches have helped their organizations put energy into uncertainty, improve resiliency, build internal capability and, most importantly, deliver results for long term growth.
Within the certification period, you will work 1:1 with an Innovation & Growth Master Black Belt from The Innovation Garage and apply your learnings to two (2) Advanced Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) application assignments for your organization.
Following successful completion of the application assignments within the designated certification period, you will be awarded an Advanced GD&T certificate.

- In class applications of the ASME Y14.5 standard on your product design and manufacturing processes.
HOW IT WORKS
1) Convenient On-Line Digital Classes and Assessments: Before attending the session, you watch a series of digital video lessons, assessments and quizzes. Plan on (3) three hours of virtual pre-work prior to the session to watch skills videos and complete quizzes.
2) Practical “Hands on” Class: At the live remote class you’ll roll your sleeves up in interactive experiences to cover the content in a dynamic, fast paced way. The course content is covered in six (6) ninety (90) minute sessions over a two week period.
3) Valuable Application to Your Work: By attending the program, you’ll get started applying the new mindset, systems, and tools to your work – connecting the dots from theory into practical application.
Fundamentals of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancinig Certificate: Extend your education, and increase your confidence with expert coaching and receive a Fundamentals of GD&T certificate upon completion of the program.
Over the coaching and certification period following the live digital sessions, apply your learnings to two (2) application assignments for your organization.
Following successful completion of the two (2) application assignments, within the specified certification period, you will be awarded a Fundamentals of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing completion certificate from The Innovation Garage.
Ohio TechCred Eligible: For Ohio based organizations, This program is eligible for reimbursement with an approved grant from the Ohio Department of Development.
